The company that manufactures Bitcoin ASIC miners Canaan has presented the first model of a new generation called AvalonMiner 1246. Compared to the 11th generation model range, the ASIC miner with the xx46 index is not the most productive and energy efficient solution, because there are also models with the xx66 index. If we compare the current AvalonMiner 1146 with the new 1246, the energy efficiency has improved by 37% from 52 J/TH to 38 J/TH. Unfortunately, the company does not indicate which ones. the process is used to produce new ASIC chips, a new 5nm or an improved 7nm, so it is difficult to predict how much Bitcoin ASIC performance can be expected in the near future.

Even taking into account the improvement in technical characteristics in the new generation of Canaan asic miners by 37%, the new AvalonMiner 1146 still did not surpass the latest generation of Bitmain ANTMiner S19 asic miners in energy efficiency, presented back in February 2020. But at the same time, they were sold out by the end of the summer of 2021, so the ASIC miner from Avalon may not be compared with Bitmain products.
The Canaan company does not indicate the cost of new products on the website, in order to find out it is necessary to submit a purchase order, which will most likely depend on the volume of the purchase.
Deliveries of the presented model are promised to begin in January 2021.
