video card hashrate in cryptocurrency mining 2023

2022 turned out to be an interesting and eventful year in the world of cryptocurrencies. In one year, together with you, we managed to observe the ups and downs of cryptocurrencies, we learned that even the largest crypto companies can close overnight, leaving behind not only offended customers, but also the entire industry. If the general state of the crypto markets can be described as a crypto winter, then for miners, 2022 can be compared to an atomic apocalypse and scorched earth. And it’s not only the sharp decline in the cost of cryptocurrencies that is to blame, but also the transition of the second most popular cryptocurrency from POW mining to POS mining. Because of this, several tens of millions of video cards that served the Ethereum POW blockchain remained out of work.

But despite this, the ideas of Satoshi Nakomoto continue to live in 2023 and move the world towards a new digital future.

Important events for miners in 2022 were the emergence of a new major manufacturer of video cards - Intel. The video cards of which could not immediately become the best offer on the market, but, as they say, a start has been made. Also, the past year was marked by the release of new generations of video cards from AMD (RX 7000) and Nvidia (RTX 4000). In which the performance of the GPU was noticeably improved, due to which the hash rate of video cards based on GPU-dependent algorithms increased significantly, but the video memory, unfortunately, received minor improvements compared to the models of video cards of previous years. Actually, because of this, the RTX 4000 and RX7000 do not show any record performance in mining algorithms that use intensive video memory (ETChash, KawPow). And most likely we will not see any significant changes here until video cards start installing the new generation GDDR7 video memory instead of the current GDDR6 and GDDR6X.

As we already said, due to the transition of Ethereum to POS, miners lost not only profit, but also the energy-efficient EThash mining algorithm, which is now being replaced by other cryptocurrencies and mining algorithms: ETCHash, KawPow, FiroPow, Beamhash, Autolykos, Aleo, Zhash, Kaspa. And this list can be continued indefinitely, because. all crypto projects want to take the place of Ethereum, but there is usually only one winner. And this is precisely the whole difficulty for miners in 2023 - it is to choose for mining exactly the cryptocurrency that can attract the largest number of miners and investors and gain a foothold in the TOP-5 cryptocurrencies for a long time.

The current situation is strongly reminiscent of 2014-2015, when the then leaders of Bitcoin, Litecoin switched to mining using ASICs, and the owners of video cards frantically switched their mining farms from Darkcoin to Mooncoin, from Dogecoin to Kittycoin, from Tipscoin to Feathercoin, from Monero to Bytecoin. And this list can be continued indefinitely, until Ethereum appeared in 2015 and for a long time closed the question: "What to mine on video cards?". And until the industry gives birth to a new Ethereum from new projects or existing ones, GPU miners will not see peace of mind soon.

Another trend was the final withdrawal from the mining of popular video cards of 2016-2017 GTX 1000 series and RX580, Vega. Which is not surprising, because these video cards are already more than 5 years old and the fact that they lasted so long in mining is already a pretty good result.

But let's move on from the lyrical introduction to the topic because of which you became the reader of these lines - to the hashrates of video cards in 2023 on popular mining algorithms.

Compared to 2022, we did not remove the Ethash algorithm, because it is used by several new and old cryptocurrencies (EthereumPOW, EtherGem). Instead of CryptoNight GPU, they added Autolykos2 (Ergo), and instead of ProgPow, they added NexaPow (Nexa).

You can get acquainted with the table of hashrates for 2022 at this link.

The current table with graphics card hashrates for the year 2024

If you are interested in the hashrate of a video card on an algorithm not presented in the table, then use the Profit-Mine.com website, where you can also calculate the income and payback of your mining equipment, depending on the chosen cryptocurrency and the cost of electricity.

If you have more than one video card, but several or even several mining farms, then we recommend that you use a special operating system for mining HiveOS instead of Windows. Instructions for installing and using HiveOS can be found at this link: Install and configure HiveOS - Linux operating system for GPU mining rigs and ASICs

For Nvidia Geforce GTX GTX 1060, GTX 1070, GTX 1070Ti, GTX 1080, GTX 1080Ti video cards, the hash rate on the ETHash algorithm will decrease over time due to an increase in the DAG file and insufficient GPU power to maintain the issued mega hashes at the same level.

Available software for mining on Nvidia video cards:

The above hashrate and power consumption of video cards should be understood as possible, because. depends on a large number of factors: miner program, video card manufacturer, memory manufacturer, overclocking, downvolting.

The table of hashrates of video cards will be updated throughout 2023, for quick access to this article in the right menu of the site in the "RECOMMENDED" section there is a link to this material.
