On December 18, 2024, Sonic labs launched its first-level blockchain under the same name Sonic. The similarity of the name with the famous game character from Sega is not accidental here, because the presented Sonic blockchain is one of the fastest to date, providing 10,000 transactions per second. I.e., as fast as the blue Sonic hedgehog, which appeared on 16-bit Sega Mega Drive game consoles.
The Sonic blockchain, along with the S cryptocurrency, was released to replace the Fantom token, which in turn can be exchanged starting today for the S token on the Sonic network in a ratio of 1 to 1. Within 90 days on a special update portal You will be able to change your FTM to S or reverse S to FTM. After 90 days, only Fantom tokens will be exchanged for S.
Sonic is officially supported by a small number of wallets so far (Metamask, Ruby, Trust Wallet, OKX wallet). If you store your Fantoms on another wallet, then transfer them to one of the already supported ones or wait for the support of the Sonic blockchain on your crypto wallet.
The second option for exchanging Fantom for S is to transfer Fantom to one of the major crypto exchanges (the list will be updated later), where FTM to S conversion will occur automatically.
